Match Safety Officers and Staff

We are looking for Safety Officers (SO) and Staff to help out with the match.  If you sign up to help out, we'll waive your match fee!

We have two options for how you can help.

  • Stationary SO's and Staff:  These SO's/Staff will be assigned to one stage for the entire match.  They will help set up and shoot the day before the match.  Then on match day, they will run their stage.  At least one of these people must be a qualified SO (see below).
  • Roving SO's and Staff:   These SO's/Staff will move with their squad and also shoot with their squad.  They will assist the stationary SO's on each stage.  Primarily they will be scoring with the Nooks or backup paper scoring but if qualified as SO, may perform SO duties as well.

Qualifications -

  • Safety Officer - To run a shooter an SO needs to have one of the following qualifications:    NRA RSO, IDPA or USPSA SO, other similar training or qualification, as approved by the Match Director.
  • Nook Scorekeeper - To score on the Nook we request that you have prior experience scoring a Rimfire Steel Match but you do not have to have SO qualifications.
  • Backup Paper Scorekeeper - Only requirement for this duty is legible handwriting!

Match Rules

The match will follow all of the Safety and Scoring Rules of NSSF Rimfire Steel Challenge.  We are calling ourselves an "Outlaw Match" because we are deviating from some of NSSF's stage design requirements on some stages with regards to minimum plate size, maximum number of plates on a stage and stop plate color.  This match will be fun for both novices and experienced shooters!
