Rimfire Steel Challenge

Info on the Rimfire Steel Outlaw Trophy Match.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) Rimfire Challenge is a .22LR rifle and pistol program created to introduce new people to the shooting sports and provide a pathway to shooting competition.  Quality matches allow both new and experienced shooters to excel at the fun sport of shooting steel targets using .22LR pistol and rifles.

If you’d like to get started in shooting competition, have fun with your family or just want to get more comfortable shooting a pistol and rifle, the Rimfire Steel Challenge is perfect for you.  Our experienced shooters are very willing to help new shooters out no matter what your experience level. See below in the More Info section on match details.

Don’t let equipment keep you from coming out – we have loaner pistols and rifles just send an email to the match POC.  We are happy to get someone started in the sport we love.

October 2016 Match Report

SLSC Rimfire Steel Match
30 October 2016
Match Report

Thanks to the 35 shooters who came out on a beautiful warm fall day to shoot our Halloween match.  We had two Novices come out and give Rimfire Steel a try today - Mike K and Kristie A.  Hopefully they got bit by the rimfire bug and will come back out again.

If you showed up in costume this month, your match fee was waived.  We had a several show up in costume and I managed to get a couple of their photos which are posted on this page.

Congratulations to Don F (Open) for taking the top ghoulish spot with a total time of  84.92 sec.  Second place overall (and Open) goes to Dave K just a zombie hit behind Don with 89.0 sec.  In third place (also Open) with a great costume working his magic was Mauro F at 99.66 sec.

In the Limited division Chris D scared up first place with 106.04 sec.  Second place was a few  pumpkins away with Perrin L at 115.28 secs.  Hovering behind Perrin like a ghost was Korey S with 116.67 sec.

In the Manually Operated category Harry B blew away some spirits with 117.74 secs.  Joe Ma leveled some walking dead in second place with his 161.66 sec.  And Steve Sh cast a spell to capture third 174.67 sec.

Halloween also brought out the Cowboys as well.  We had two dueling it out today.  "Lightening" Joe Mu drew quicker and came out on top with 157.38 sec.  Dallas S fought fiercely to the end and got second with 232.83 sec.

For the youth, Mia F not only had the best costume she also took top Youth and top Lady!  Her out of this world time was 109.67 sec (Open).

Top Senior was won by Harvey G with a wicked fast 143.70 sec (Open).

All the scores can be found here:

Thanks to Joe Ma for his spooky and creative stage designs which seemed to get scarier as they became shot up!  Hopefully the kids enjoyed the water balloon eyeballs on stage 4!

This is our last match of the season (year) as Thanksgiving and Christmas take up the November and December weekends.  We also take off January and February as shooting in the bitter cold is just not that much fun.  Thanks to the decided group of folks who help set up and/or RO each match.  Without each and every one of you the matches couldn't be held.  I appreciate your time and effort.  Also, thanks to our great group of shooters who not only come out and have fun shooting but always help tear down and get stuff put away.  I appreciate every steel plate, 2x4, stand you put away as it's one less we have to do at the end of a long match day.

We are planning on the Outlaw match in April and will send out info on that in the coming months.  We also will plan for a March match so hope for some warm/dry weather last Sunday in March and come back out to get started in another season of rimfire steel next year.
